Wellesley Townsman -
Column: One of Wellesley's
best-kept secrets:
renewable energy options
By Jessica Langerman/Guest Columnist
"...What
is the Voluntary Renewable Energy Program? The brainchild of Debra Healy,
business manager at the MLP, the Voluntary Renewable Energy Program
(VREP) was created in response to the outcome of an opinion survey
conducted last fall. The survey, performed by Opinion Dynamics
Corporation, targeted 597 residential and 77 commercial customers of the
WMLP. "The results of the survey were clear," said Healy.
"Almost 80 percent of respondents rated renewable energy as being
important. There is a great deal of interest in clean energy here in
Wellesley, and people indicated that they were willing to pay extra for
it." -more-
